By Rick Riordan

For the third book of this series for this one I have a small antidote. This book series convinced me that I did not have dyslexia. You see I have a low level of dyslexia that shows itself in misreading words. Because my experience did not involve the letters floating off the page. It wasn’t until university that I was diagnosed. I can only hope that other people can see themselves in these books. Shall we start?

“It’s not every day you find yourself in combat with a half-lion, half-human.

But when you’re the son of a Greek god, it happens. And now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and only five half-blood heroes can join the quest to defeat the doomsday monster.

Oh, and guess what. The Oracle has predicted that not all of us will not survive…”

This book was a lot of fun Rick Riordan seems to have a knack for a constant state of quality in these books as I have said before, if you liked the last two, you will like this one. Just one warning as the summary said, not everyone will make it out. So be warned.

Before we get on to The Titans Curse, I would like to talk about Chiron.

Chiron trainer of heroes and one of only two adults running Camp Half-Blood. In The Sea of Monsters, Chiron was blamed for what happened to Thalia’s tree and fired. The reason that I didn’t talk about this last week was because of the revelation that Chiron was a son of Kronos.  Meaning Zeus once again blames one of his brothers for what was going wrong.

It’s even worse than that is replaced by Tantalus. A man who doesn’t care if everyone at camp dies. The only theory I can think about why Tantalus was picked, and this is the most generous look at things is maybe Mr. D wanted to show the other gods why they needed Chiron.

I would like to talk about three things.

Firstly Thalia. We have been hearing about her since the first book. But what is weird is that Percy has been dreaming about her. This will never be explained. I think it may have something to do with the way that their futures are intertwined as two children who could be the children of The Great Prophecy. Both Percy and Thalia seem to vacillate from fighting together and fighting each other. This could be a comparison to how their fathers work as well.

Secondly, I would like to talk about Luke in this book we see him use Annabeth to trap Artemis trapped under the world and then expect Thalia to join him. From what we know those three were a family and Luke broke that family. This was when Thalia realised what everyone had told her about him and there was no going back.

Thirdly the Hunters of Artemis. Throughout the book, we see two people join the Hunters of Artemis and one person who we see thinking about it. It is revealed that Annabeth has a pamphlet about joining The Hunters. This makes sense for Annebeth if you think about it. Annabeth has been abandoned by her father and by Luke. Why shouldn’t she leave Percy before he can betray her? The first person we see join The Hunters is a new character, Bianca Di Angelo. Now I know that there was a lot of discussion and hate toward them because of pressuring Bianca into joining them but I don’t think that is completely fair. I believe that Bianca wanted to stop being a parent for her little brother. This could have been handled better Artemis could have made the other but let her think about it while at camp.

What I do have a problem with is Zoe Nightingale volunteering for Bianca on the quest. This girl has had little to no training before going on the quest and is prophesied that at least two people will die. Now I understand that they thought Bianca would be a good replacement for her but that is not a good excuse.

There is more I want to say but it will make more about the second person we see joining The Hunters, but I need to leave that for next time.

Happy reading to all and to all a good night.
